Another fatal head injury
MercuryNews.com has reported the tragic death of Pro skateboarder, Eric Costello, following a freak accident at a Scotts Valley skate park, California, when he lost his safety helmet during a fall. Police Chief Steve Lind said,"This was such a tragic accident involving a really nice young man, it just points out to kids that it doesn't matter how good you are, you should always be wearing the proper equipment." I would add that you also need to ensure that the safety equipment, particularly helmets, must always be properly fitted; by definition, you never know when an accident is going to happen and they usually occur when you least expect them.
Ironically, Eric was well known for constantly telling others about the importance of wearing their equipment correctly.
People that knew him declared that he was everyone's best friend, always positive and making the young skaters feel that they were the best skater in the world. Besides skateboarding, Costello was also an accomplished reggae drummer, surfer, snowboarder and skimboarder.
If you are on a board or on wheels, please wear a properly fitted helmet,
