USA Triathlon

There are obviously a growing number of people who find laying on a beach too sedentary. I was looking at up coming events at Newport Beach and I noticed that they will be hosting the Pacific Coast Triathlon on Sunday, September 11th (expo and registration on Saturday 9th). A half Mile Swim followed by a 12 Mile Bike and then a 3 Mile Run to the finish. If your up for it, the start time is 7.30 am!

Digging a little deeper into the world of the USA Triathlon, I chanced upon their 2005 calendar. I could hardly believe the number of organized competitions. I swear there were beads of perspiration forming on my laptop as I downloaded the information.

Just reading about the events leaves you with great admiration for athletes like Hunter Kemper, he finished the 2004 season ranked 6th in the world and is the current U.S. number one, streaking away in the 2005 U.S. elite rankings.

San Diego
Festival of Sail 2005

More than twenty tall ships and other extraordinary vessels from around the world will visit San Diego and transform the North Embarcadero into a nautical theme park from Wednesday, August 17 to Sunday August 21, 2005. The San Diego Maritime Museum will be hosting the Festival of Sail 2005 , beginning with a majestic parade of tall ships on San Diego Bay.

The festival will stretch from the Cruise Ship Terminal north to the foot of Hawthorn Street and features ships from around the world. Over the weekend, several ships will engage in cannon battles on San Diego Bay. Quite a spectacle.
